• Conducting advanced research in Wireless technologies. • Understanding and consolidating Indian wireless market requirements through regular consultation with Industry stakeholders and to project them in global standards forums. • Developing solutions for addressing the near and far-term technological challenges related to wireless communications. • Enabling Indian companies to design, develop and manufacture world class wireless products, and help them leverage the intellectual assets gained through advanced research. • Being a trusted neutral partner to industry stakeholders and policy makers on various technological aspects of wireless communication industry. • Collaborating with academia and R&D institutions in furtherance of the above mission. • To offer innovative courses related to 5G mobile as well as internet technology to its current courses. • To conduct various seminars and workshops for the skill development. • Training will likewise be given to technicians and engineers working in the industry through a modern laboratory set-up.

The University

Ganpat University and the township of Ganpat Vidyanagar, a high-tech education campus is a joint initiative, purely philanthropic in nature, by a large number of industrialists and technocrats, noble farmers and affluent businessmen for the mission of “Social Upliftment through Education”. The University is established by the State Government by enactment of Act No.19/2005 on 12th April, 2005. In consideration of its contribution to the Education in a short period of time, the University has been given Permanent Membership of Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi besides having a membership from Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), UK and International Association of Universities (IAU), France.

About Program

Advanced Technology Centre for Next-Generation Networks (ATCNN) is a Centre of Excellence at Ganpat University with support from Ministry of Communication and IT and the Indian as well as International telecom industry. ATCNN vision is to provide technological leadership to the Indian wireless industry and address the needs of the next-generation networks through advanced R&D and skill development programmes. ATCNN works as a neutral partner to industry stakeholders and policy makers on various technological aspects of the wireless communication industry. The centre has a team of experts in Radio access technologies, specifically focusing on latest wireless and mobile technologies.

Today wireless research is moving rapidly beyond 3G and 4G technologies towards 5G technologies, which are required to satisfy the rapidly growing broadband wireless needs of large populations around the globe.  ATCNN conducts research in 5G technologies and participates in global standardization. It is engaging very closely with academic and industry research groups in India to focus on areas with strong potential for contribution to global standards while keeping in mind operator requirements and usage scenarios.

It has built simulators and test beds which benefit the industry in its R&D and capacity building activities. ATCNN is going to play a key role in building a dynamic wireless R&D ecosystem in India.

Background and Motivation of Advance Network Technology – 5G:

5G is the fifth generation of cellular networks, bringing new capabilities that will create opportunities for people, businesses and society. It is a capital improvement project the size of the entire planet, replacing one wireless architecture created this century with another one that aims to lower energy consumption and maintenance costs. 5G will do much more than significantly improve your network connection. It provides new opportunities, enabling us to deliver ground-breaking solutions that reach across society. It’s also a huge gamble on the future of transmission technology, doubling down on consumers’ willingness to upgrade. Wireless communications systems use radio frequencies (also known as spectrum) to carry information through the air. 5G operates in the same way, but uses higher radio frequencies that are less cluttered. This allows for it to carry more information at a much faster rate. These higher bands are called ‘millimeter waves’ (mmwaves). The fifth generation of mobile technology, 5G was introduced in 2019 and again comes with a whole host of improvements          and upgrades from earlier mobile technologies. Increased speed is perhaps the biggest change we see with 5G. As discussed earlier, 4G networks offer maximum download speeds of 300Mbps, but with 5G these reach up to 10Gbps – meaning you can stream media, download and upload data and play games on the go faster than ever before.

With an objective to realize the mission of Atma Nirbhar Bharat and Digital India Mission; Hon President of Ganpat University Shree Ganpatbhai Patel (PADMASHREE), has brought V-Band and E-Band Millimeter Wave Backhaul Technology that achieves 10GBPS throughput, extremely low latency and ranges upto 10 kms radius distance. Hon. Prime Minister office is in discussion with Shri Ganpatbhai Patel and aligned CeWIT, IIT Madras to extend possible support for technical evaluation, test bed setup and mentoring for rolling out wireless fibre devices indigenous design and development enabling 5G for India. Ganpat University has imported these equipment’s for testing into Indian Environment. With extensive support from the Hon/ Prime Minister office and DoT, GoI has issued the experimental license within Ganpat University campus. Other than IITs actively participating CeWIT, Ganpat University is the only University granted experimental license for research and development.

The Ganpat University is in the process of establishing the advanced Research Centre on Advance Network Technology – 5G & beyond to enable performance analysis and testing in an Indian context along with tropic zone of countries in Asia at large. The sole objective is to establish Test & Measurement lab for Field Testing (Heavy Rain, Sway of Wind, High Temperature, Fog, etc), Interference Testing, Millimeter Wave Test, Innovating applications & Millimeter framework for and making India a hub for indigenous equipment manufacturing.

Need:

Communication is rapidly becoming a defining characteristic of the 21st century. Wireless devices include everything from video game controllers to Bluetooth headsets. Entertainment and news are delivered via satellites as well as RF-based wireless systems. GPS navigation systems are ubiquitous, and Wi-Fi connections increasingly available on commercial applications. Ever more exotic applications are being announced regularly. Ganpat University will become national leader in the field of Advance Network Technology – 5G as in India this emerging technology is still in very initial stage and not much facilities are present for this.
